Dr Kate's General Approach

Kate follows the principles of functional medicine, which is a highly customized holistic health perspective that takes an individual's unique specifications into account. Functional medicine/nutrition follows a systems approach that takes into consideration how interrelated every part of the body is, looking at the big picture of health by restoring optimal physiological functioning. While standard healthcare will try to suppress symptoms with medication, functional healthcare instead sees them as clues for understanding underlying issues within the body.
Kate also subscribes to the "three roots many branches" concept which suggests that a small number of foundational factors (the roots) can significantly impact a wide range of health issues (the branches). Addressing these roots (genes, inflammation, digestion) can positively influence the many branches.
