  1. Tracking Blood Glucose


Glucose levels can spike throughout the day even if fasting glucose is normal. I like to measure 5-8 times per day (fasting, before and after meals and at bedtime) with an old school glucose monitor for 3 days minimum. Use a spreadsheet to track your food and blood glucose levels and make sure to eat all of your usual carb-heavy foods during the 3 day period.


  1. Analyzing Blood Glucose


This video focuses on looking for spikes in blood glucose and then tweaking your diet. We're looking for anything above 5 mmol/L for fasting and 7 mmol/L for non-fasting. Look at the meals that you ate before each of these spikes – are there any obvious high-carb foods? Sugary food, starchy food, even fruit?
